The overall fighting strategy of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is designed to equip a physically smaller or weaker individual with an effective method of defending against a larger and stronger attacker. When applying BJJ techniques, leverage is paramount, as leverage is the secret to the amplification and most efficient use of force.

What a great showing for MGA. Im so proud of every member of MGA. For those who competed and for those who came to support what an outstanding job. The kids were outstanding fighting with alot of confidence and heart. Kylie Ferreira took home 2 golds and the most outstanding competitor for the kids. I am so sorry for some of the kids that had to fight each other. I guess there wasnt enough competitors and there wouldnt have been a match if they didnt fight each other. All in all it was good experiance for everone. OUTSTANDING EVERYONE
Just got updated. MGA took 2nd place for the team.
Sup boyz!!!! Lets start training hard for the upcoming Maui Open Tournament.
Time to crank it up a notch.

Tonight I attended a seminar hosted by Island Warriors Freestyle Fighting Academy. The legendary Carlson Gracie Jr. was superb. We had 3 hours of instructional, one on one with Carlson. I was very honored to learn over a dozen techniques that I will try to take in and pass on to my fellow students. I am very proud of Daniel Uehara who found time to make it to the seminar. I hope he enjoyed it as much as I did. So everyone that couldnt make it, I'll try to review what we learned at class. Thank You Tyson for inviting us and I'll hope there will be more to come.

From a press release: Amsterdam, Holland - The five man squad for Team USA West's entry into the 2009 "M-1 Challenge Presented by Affliction" has been finalized with one injury replacement set at lightweight and the team's welterweight representative having been signed. The "M-1 Challenge Presented by Affliction," a international team competition that bills itself as the "World Cup of Mixed Martial Arts," is slated to hold its 2009 season opener on Feb. 21 at the Emerald Queen Casino near Seattle, Washington. Tickets are currently available at Ticketmaster.com (search keyword: M-1 Challenge). The opener will feature three head-to-head matchups for a total of 15 fights with returning champions Russia Imperial Team (formerly known as Russian Red Devil) taking on South Korea in addition to Team USA West's debut vs. Team Brazil Naja. Team USA West is poised to bring a title back to America with a roster featuring a slew of blue chip prospects. The team's roster was recently finalized after previously announced Affliction veteran Bobby Green having been replaced by Brian Cobb as the team's lightweight representative. Additionally, Dylan Clay has been signed to assume the team's previously vacant slot at welterweight. Coached by Colin Oyama and co-owned by renowned California-based promoter Roy Engelbrecht and M-1 USA Vice President of Legal Affairs Steve Bash, the team is rounded out by the previously announced Carl Seumanutafa (heavyweight), Raphael Davis (light heavyweight), and Reggie Orr (middleweight). |
